Billy Joel Updates Health Status, Announces Vintage Motorcycle Auction
Billy Joel said he is currently prohibited from driving due to his brain condition and will auction more than 70 vintage motorcycles in November.
Singer-songwriter Billy Joel, who cancelled his 2025-2026 tour after being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, told The Hollywood Reporter that he is not permitted to drive while undergoing medical evaluation. He said a neurologist warned that each performance feels like a concussion and that he must complete a series of tests before determining when he can return to the stage.
Joel previously reassured fans on SiriusXM that his condition, while affecting balance and hearing, is manageable and not as severe as the term "brain disorder" might suggest.
The musician is preparing to auction more than 70 vintage motorcycles from his personal collection on Nov. 20 and 21. He explained to THR that, now in his 70s, his ability to ride has diminished and he prefers to sell the bikes rather than keep them unused.
