Bend police respond to active shooter report at Silver Rail Elementary

Police in Bend are on the scene after receiving reports of an active shooter at Silver Rail Elementary School. The school has been placed on lockdown and a large police presence has gathered in the surrounding area. Residents have been asked to avoid the vicinity.
A reunification location has been established at Journey Church, 61303 S Highway 97, near Goodwill and Dairy Queen, where families of students are instructed to go.
A spokesperson for the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office said deputies are heading to assist with the incident.
