James Talarico’s campaign said it brought in $64 million in the third quarter, pushing its total to $134 million, while Republican opponent Ken Paxton reported $18 million for the same period. The numbers underscore how a mass, grassroots-ready challenge is building around affordability, corruption, and voter frustration in Texas.
Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico said his campaign raised $64 million in the third quarter, a record for any Senate candidate in that period, bringing total contributions since his candidacy announcement to $134 million.
His Republican opponent, Attorney General Ken Paxton, reported raising $18 million over the same three-month span. Talarico surpassed the previous third-quarter record of $57 million set by Jamie Harrison in South Carolina in 2020, and exceeds the $38 million Beto O'Rourke raised in a similar timeframe in 2018.
Recent polling shows Talarico holding a slight lead over Paxton.
"We have an affordability crisis because we have a corruption crisis," Talarico told voters at a CNN-hosted town hall, adding that rumors about his health and alleged disappearance were false and had been spread online.
Paxton announced a two-week bus tour beginning near Fort Worth, scheduled to conclude the night before Election Day at the Alamo. Early voting in Texas starts Monday.
