Actor Aaron Paul Pays Tribute to Late Breaking Bad Co-Star RJ Mitte
Aaron Paul remembered RJ Mitte as an inspiration and expressed condolences after the actor’s death, which was confirmed as a suicide.
Aaron Paul posted a tribute to his former "Breaking Bad" co-star RJ Mitte, describing the late actor as an inspiration who "always led with kindness and strength." Paul shared a throwback video in which Mitte discussed mental-health support and wrote, "> The last time we saw each other I kept calling you Superman. You reminded me of him because you always led with kindness and strength."
Paul added that Mitte, who lived with cerebral palsy, "was born into a world with challenges but never let any of that stand in his way." He also expressed hope that anyone feeling lost or uncertain would reach out to others, noting, "> Life is so special. Connect with someone you care about and say I love you."
In a separate statement obtained by the Hollywood Reporter, Paul said he was "at a loss" after learning of Mitte’s death and wrote, "> I am heartbroken over this news. RJ, I love you my friend. You will be missed."
Bryan Cranston, who played Walter White, also posted on Instagram, saying he was "in despair" over Mitte’s passing at age 34 and that he "loved him and thoroughly enjoyed being with him throughout the years on the series."
A representative confirmed Mitte’s death to Page Six, describing him as a "beloved actor, philanthropist and passionate disability-rights advocate" known for his role as Walter "Flynn" White Jr. on the series. Local officials in Brownsville, Texas, expressed shock at the loss, noting his involvement in community arts and cultural projects.
Mitte’s representatives said he died by suicide; a formal determination of the manner of death will follow an autopsy.
