Brewers take 3-0 NLCS lead over Dodgers with three home runs

Summary

Milwaukee defeated Los Angeles 6-2 in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, moving within one win of its first World Series appearance since 1982.

The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 on Wednesday to lead the best-of-seven National League Championship Series 3-0. Jackson Chourio opened the scoring with a solo home run on the first pitch, and the Brewers added two more homers from Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell later in the game.

Milwaukee starter Robert Gasser worked five scoreless innings before the bullpen brought in reliever Abner Uribe, who had not allowed an earned run in his previous 11 appearances. The Dodgers rallied briefly in the fifth inning, taking a 3-2 lead after Will Smith singled, but the Brewers responded with back-to-back two-run homers from Bauers and Mitchell on Blake Snell’s 99th and 101st pitches.

Snell, who had retired 14 consecutive batters earlier, allowed three runs on five hits before being removed. The Brewers added runs in the eighth and ninth innings, extending their lead to four runs, the largest margin they have held in the postseason.

The victory puts Milwaukee one win away from its first World Series berth since 1982, while the Dodgers face elimination in Game 4, scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. PT, with Tyler Glasnow slated to start for Los Angeles.

"We’re excited to be one win away from the World Series," Brewers manager Pat Celades said after the game.

"We have to keep executing and stay focused," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts added.
