Surveillance footage shows Kelly Clarkson's visit to Brooklyn novelty store

Summary

A grainy security video released by a podcast shows singer Kelly Clarkson browsing a Brooklyn magic-and-games shop before she posted complaints about the staff on social media.

A surveillance video obtained by the "Pablo Torre Finds Out" podcast shows singer Kelly Clarkson inside Art of Play, a magic and games store in Brooklyn. The silent footage captures Clarkson in a yellow hoodie and baseball cap as she examines a kaleidoscope and a wooden automaton named "Molly," the store’s mascot that is not for sale. She appears to discuss the item with an employee, point to it, and later speak with a cashier before leaving the store.

After the visit, Clarkson posted on X, likening her experience to a scene from the 1990 film "Pretty Woman." In a follow-up post, she shared an image of "Molly" with a price tag and claimed an employee told her the automaton could be bought for $15,000, then offered a cheaper alternative.

Art of Play responded that Clarkson inquired about the one-of-a-kind mascot, which is not available for purchase. Co-owner Adam Rubin told Curbed that the public sharing of the encounter has led to harassment of his staff and a surge of negative online reviews.

Both Clarkson’s representatives and Art of Play declined to comment further for ABC News.
