Security Footage Shows Kelly Clarkson's Brief Visit to Brooklyn Toy Store
A four-minute video released by Pablo Torre shows Kelly Clarkson's short trip to Art of Play in Brooklyn, during which she examined a kaleidoscope, asked about an automaton bird and left the store feeling dissatisfied.
Pablo Torre released security footage of Kelly Clarkson's four-minute, 50-second visit to Art of Play, a toy store in Brooklyn. The silent video shows the singer handling a kaleidoscope near the entrance and briefly speaking with the store owner about a wall-mounted automaton bird called “Molly.” After the brief exchange, Clarkson moves to another part of the shop, ignoring the owner's attempt to draw her attention to a different product.
When leaving, Clarkson appears to express frustration toward the cashier, a sentiment she later posted on social media. In her post, she wrote that she drove to Brooklyn to shop, felt she was treated as if she could not afford items, and was offered a comparable product—a pair of German-made automaton birds priced at $2,000. Torre later purchased that item and announced plans to auction it.
The store owner responded on the business’s social media account, stating that “Molly” is permanently attached to the wall and not for sale, and noting that the shop welcomes all visitors regardless of purchase intent. He also said the negative experience described by Clarkson resonated with anyone who has felt judged in a store.
The exchange between Clarkson, the store, and users on X (formerly Twitter) continued, prompting Torre to highlight the incident on his program.
