Collin Gosselin urges estranged siblings to seek truth as he promotes memoir
Collin Gosselin, former star of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," urged his siblings to investigate their family history while promoting his new memoir detailing alleged abuse by his mother.
Collin Gosselin, now 22, appeared on E! News to discuss his recently released memoir, In The Shadow of Eight, which recounts his experiences growing up on the reality series "Jon & Kate Plus 8" and alleges abuse by his mother, Kate Gosselin. He said he is "pulling up all this documentation of everything from the past" and encouraged his seven siblings to do the same, noting that "the information is out there, but you can't always believe what you've been fed."
Gosselin described his childhood on the show as heavily edited, adding that viewers often see a version of reality that is "not real." He said the memoir provides a behind-the-scenes look at the family's dynamics and the impact of public exposure, which he believes contributed to the family's fragmentation.
The author expressed that writing the book was a difficult but therapeutic process. He said he was initially scared to share his story but found it "the most liberating and freeing thing I've ever done," and he hopes the book will help other abuse victims.
The memoir's launch follows months of public statements from Gosselin criticizing the show's production and his mother's parenting. He indicated that, despite potential strain on his relationship with his siblings, he intends to continue advocating for abuse survivors.
