Rockstar Games targets early 2027 for Grand Theft Auto VI PC launch

Summary

Rockstar Games plans to release the PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI in the first quarter of 2027, a few months after its November 2026 console debut.

Rockstar Games announced that the PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release within the first three months of 2027, according to four industry sources who asked to remain anonymous. The console edition is set to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The projected PC launch follows a shorter gap than the previous generation, when Grand Theft Auto V arrived on PC in April 2015, more than a year after its September 2013 console debut. Industry observers note that the quicker turnaround could broaden the game’s audience, as the PC market represents a smaller but growing segment of Rockstar’s user base.

Rockstar has indicated plans to add user-generated content tools to GTA VI, and its 2023 acquisition of Cfx.re – the team behind the FiveM role-playing framework for GTA V – suggests a focus on online role-playing experiences. In an interview at the Tokyo Game Show, Twitch chief executive Dan Clancy said online play for GTA VI is expected to launch “next year.”

The company has already delayed the overall release twice, moving the original 2025 window to May 2026 and then to the current November 2026 date. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent, reaffirmed the November console launch during recent earnings calls, indicating the title is in final polishing stages. The PC version will need to meet the same quality standards before it goes live.
