Documentary 'You Can See Everything' on Elizabeth Holmes Receives Perfect Scores
Nathan Fielder's documentary about Elizabeth Holmes has earned a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 97 on Metacritic ahead of its US release.
Nathan Fielder's documentary "You Can See Everything," co-directed with Lance Oppenheim, follows convicted Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes as she allows the filmmakers into her home shortly before beginning an 11-year prison term. The film, shot secretly over three years, will open in U.S. theatres on 16 October and in the United Kingdom on 20 November. Early reviews gave it a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 97 on Metacritic, indicating "universal acclaim."
"Not just the film of the year – it’s a documentary that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the form’s all-time greats," wrote The Daily Beast.
"The hype is deserved," The Guardian added, describing the work as "more shocking, twistier, thornier and revealing than billed."
Variety noted that the film departs from traditional documentary style, calling it "a one-of-a-kind reality-TV-as-hangout-movie psychodrama circus," while Screen Daily highlighted its exploration of how participants, including Holmes and her partner Billy Evans, shape their own narratives.
The documentary premiered at the Telluride Film Festival, where audiences were asked to lock their phones away during the screening. A recent trailer features Holmes telling Fielder, "I don’t have anything to deceive you on. Of course I’m not deceiving you. I’m engaging with you as a human being. Why would I deceive you? There’s no reason for me to do that."
