Dodgers Trail Brewers 2-0 in NLCS After 7-4 Game Two Loss
Los Angeles fell behind 2-0 in the National League Championship Series as Milwaukee won Game Two 7-4, putting the Dodgers in a must-win situation.
The Los Angeles Dodgers fell behind 2-0 in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series after a 7-4 defeat at American Family Field on Monday. Starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto was removed after three innings, and the Dodgers managed only three hits while allowing four runs, including a two-run single by Christian Yelich that followed a 12-pitch walk to Jake Bauers.
Milwaukee’s bullpen set a postseason record with five perfect innings, and the Brewers added two runs in the eighth inning to secure the win. The Dodgers’ offense, which had produced multiple extra-base hits in earlier series, was limited to a single extra-base hit and struck out several times in the later innings.
Los Angeles will start Blake Snell in Game Three, followed by Tyler Glasnow in Game Four, as they attempt to even the series. Manager Dave Roberts said the team must focus on the next game and highlighted the importance of pitching matchups and bullpen usage.
"Yeah, it’s certainly a challenge," Roberts said. "If you look at Game 3, I like where we’re at as far as in a vacuum, who’s pitching, where our bullpen is at, being at home. Then you’ve got to go from there."
Milwaukee’s William Contreras contributed a fifth-inning home run and a bases-loaded single in the sixth, providing the decisive runs. The Dodgers will need to improve both pitching and hitting as they return to Dodger Stadium for the upcoming games.
