Joe Manganiello says memoir focuses on health struggles, not divorce
During a CBS Mornings interview, Joe Manganiello clarified that his upcoming memoir "Bloodlines" centers on his illness and recovery rather than his split with Sofía Vergara.
Actor Joe Manganiello told host Gayle King on CBS Mornings that his memoir, "Bloodlines," released on Tuesday, is about the suffering he endured while battling a severe autoimmune disease, not about his divorce from Sofía Vergara. > "Well, I think anybody who said that should read the book first and understand what the book is actually about because it’s not about that," Manganiello said. He added that he tries to treat everyone with grace and does not wish to engage in the dispute on social media. > "I try to paint everyone with an amount of grace, no matter who they are. Because it is a nuanced discussion, and it’s not something I care to carry out on social media." Manganiello, known for "True Blood," reflected on the difficult period, noting that the trauma affected everyone around him. > "The trauma and the pain affected everyone in my life, including me in ways you can’t predict. This book is about the journey I went through." An excerpt obtained by People shows Manganiello alleging that Vergara ridiculed his adopted dog and refused to hug him during his illness. Vergara’s son, Manolo, previously reposted a message about dealing with narcissists, which was interpreted as a reference to Manganiello. The couple separated in July 2023 after seven years of marriage. Manganiello said false statements had been printed about him.
