Week 5 NFL injury updates: Jets, Bears, Eagles and Rams report key absences
Several teams entered Week 5 with notable players sidelined, including the Jets' Breece Hall, the Bears' Kyle Monangai, and the Eagles' Saquon Barkley, while the Rams aim to have Aaron Donald back for Monday night.
The New York Jets announced that both running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell will miss Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. Hall remains out with a quad injury, marking his second missed game, while Mitchell is sidelined by a finger injury, his third consecutive absence.
Chicago’s Kyle Monangai did not practice for a second day on Thursday and his status for the next one to two weeks is uncertain because of a turf toe injury, according to ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler. Monangai, who ranks seventh among NFL rushers with 324 yards, hopes to play through the issue as the Bears continue to rely heavily on him and D’Andre Swift.
The Philadelphia Eagles face the Jacksonville Jaguars with an offensive line that will look markedly different from opening day and a roster dealing with multiple injuries. Running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver DeVonta Smith have missed the first two practices of the week; Barkley is listed as “week-to-week” with a hamstring injury sustained in the loss to the Los Angeles Rams, while Smith remains sidelined from an earlier season injury. Additionally, wideout Dontayvion Wicks was limited in practice with a hamstring issue.
Titans rookie wide receiver Carnell Tate, who recorded nine catches for 145 yards against the Baltimore Ravens, was listed with a back issue after being limited in practice on Thursday.
Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, along with tight end Colby Parkinson and cornerback Jaylen Watson, were limited in Thursday’s practice but are expected to increase participation ahead of Monday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills, head coach Sean McVay told reporters. Donald, returning after two seasons away, missed the previous win over the Eagles due to a back injury.
