Actor Chad Lowe Discusses Grieving Process After Daughter's Suicide
Chad Lowe posted a podcast excerpt on Instagram describing his coping methods following his 13-year-old daughter Fiona's death by suicide.
Actor Chad Lowe used his Instagram Stories on Oct. 8 to share a segment from Olivia Hunt’s “On Healing” podcast, offering insight into how he is handling the loss of his daughter Fiona, who died by suicide on Sept. 29. The clip featured author and self-described “soul coach” Gerry Hussey, who spoke about the concept of a “divine frequency” and the uncertainty surrounding death.
“So when we die, where do we go? We return to a state of peace and love. Where were we before we were born? … There’s a spirit that enters the body. It mobilizes. It gives us an intelligence and an awareness.”
Hussey also addressed the grieving process, noting that “we control nothing” and that “nobody really knows why people die; nobody really knows why we live.” He urged listeners to express love to those close to them and to resolve unfinished conversations.
Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, announced Fiona’s death in a family statement to People on Sept. 29, describing her as a “loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.” The statement requested privacy and included the national suicide-prevention hotline number 988.
The 13-year-old’s death adds to the broader issue of youth suicide in the United States, which remains a leading cause of death according to CDC data. The family’s other children are daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie Barbara, 10.
