Fantasy football experts give Week 5 wide receiver start-sit recommendations
Fantasy football analyst Derek Brown outlines which wide receivers to start or sit for Week 5, highlighting strong options like Parker Washington and Denzel Boston and advising caution on players such as Deebo Samuel and DK Metcalf.
Fantasy football analyst Derek Brown provided his Week 5 outlook for wide receivers, identifying several players as strong starts and others to consider fading. He noted that Parker Washington (JAC) should rebound after a low-target game, citing his season-average target share and the neutral matchup against Philadelphia’s secondary. Denzel Boston (CLE) was highlighted for his consistent production and ability to handle a tough Jets defense, while Matthew Golden (GB) was expected to benefit from high target volume despite a dip in yards per route.
Brown also suggested flex options, including Jaylen Waddle (DEN) if quarterback Bo Nix improves, and Carnell Tate (TEN) who has maintained alpha-level volume. He mentioned Devaughn Vele (NO) and Emeka Egbuka (TB) as risky but potentially rewarding choices, noting their recent usage and matchup challenges.
Among players to approach with caution, Brown warned that Deebo Samuel (SF) faces a difficult Seattle secondary that limits two-high coverage, and DK Metcalf (PIT) continues to struggle with efficiency despite recent modest points. Josh Downs (IND) was also flagged as a concern due to a weak matchup and quarterback limitations.
"If Bo Nix can get himself together this week, Waddle could have a nice game, but that’s a huge question mark," Brown said.
"I’m not hopeful for Metcalf this week," he added.
