College Football Week 6 Picks Highlight Unders and Key Matchups
Analyst predicts several under totals for Week 6 games, noting strong rushing by UCLA, weather concerns for Alabama-Georgia, and defensive strengths influencing outcomes.
Ranked teams have dominated unranked opponents this season, posting an 85-6 record and a 0.934 win percentage, the highest in the College Football Playoff era. Their performance against the spread (47-43-1) also marks the best cover rate since 2019.
UCLA, ranked No. 21, faces No. 13 Oregon on the road. The Bruins have excelled with the nation’s top rushing attack by success-rate and EPA metrics, but their passing game remains underdeveloped. Oregon’s defensive line is expected to challenge UCLA’s ground game, while the Ducks’ quarterback situation remains uncertain.
"UCLA has been so far the best rushing attack in the country from a success-rate and EPA-rate perspective," the analyst noted.
In the SEC showdown, No. 2 Georgia meets No. 6 Alabama amid Tropical Storm Isaias, which is forecast to bring heavy rain and strong winds to central Alabama. The analyst expects the weather to suppress scoring, keeping the total under 52.5 points.
"The unanswered questions for both offenses, combined with the weather that won’t help either offense, make this one an easy call," he said.
LSU, ranked No. 10, visits Kentucky. Despite Kentucky’s surprising early-season success, the analyst favors LSU to cover the -8.5 spread, citing LSU’s talent advantage and Kentucky’s recent overperformance.
The Red River rivalry between No. 1 Texas and Oklahoma features a low total of 39.5 points, reflecting Oklahoma’s inability to score touchdowns against Texas in recent meetings and both teams’ modest offensive efficiencies.
San Diego State travels to Oregon State, where the analyst predicts another under as both defenses have limited red-zone points per possession.
Finally, Arizona, despite a 4-1 start, loses its top receiver to injury ahead of a road game at West Virginia. Health concerns and West Virginia’s explosive offense lead the analyst to pick West Virginia as the likely winner.
"If the Mountaineers can turn this game into a tennis match, it will play to their advantage," the analyst added.
