A recent NBC News/Telemundo poll shows a majority of Latino voters view ICE and Customs and Border Protection negatively and disapprove of President Trump's immigration approach, while U.S. officials discuss potential large-scale military actions against Iran.
A new NBC News/Telemundo poll indicates that 65% of Latino voters hold negative views of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and 46% view Customs and Border Protection unfavorably. The same survey found that 69% disapprove of President Donald Trump’s immigration strategy, with two-thirds saying his enforcement actions have gone too far. While 83% support deporting undocumented immigrants who have committed serious crimes, 60% oppose the removal of all undocumented residents. About one in five Latino respondents said they or someone close to them has seriously considered leaving the United States.
Separately, U.S. military officials have been reviewing options for renewed large-scale operations against Iran, including possible strikes before the upcoming midterm elections, according to a senior official and another source familiar with the discussions. No final decision has been made, but the planning reflects ongoing strategic assessments of Iran and Houthi activities in Yemen.
"The military has prepared new options for operations in Iran for the president to consider," a U.S. official said.
The White House maintains that the United States is in a "very strong position," even as President Trump has made varied remarks about potential Iranian attacks on U.S. cities during recent campaign rallies.
In unrelated news, Christa Pike, who survived a botched execution in Tennessee, awoke after being declared brain-dead, according to her attorney. Pike remains in critical condition with multiple medical complications.
The poll and military developments come as political campaigns intensify ahead of the November elections, highlighting immigration and national security as key voter concerns.
