A recent poll shows Republican Byron Donalds and Senator Ashley Moody holding double-digit leads over their Democratic opponents, while Hispanic voters appear to be moving away from President Trump.
A new NBC South Florida/Telemundo poll finds Republican Byron Donalds ahead of Democrat David Jolly by seven points in the Florida governor’s race, with Donalds at 48% and Jolly at 41%. In the Senate contest, Republican incumbent Ashley Moody leads Democratic challenger Angie Nixon by ten points, polling at 50% to Nixon’s 40%.
Among Hispanic voters, Donalds holds a 48%-43% advantage over Jolly, and Moody leads Nixon 47%-40%. The survey also shows President Donald Trump’s job approval split evenly among all Florida voters, with 48% approving and 48% disapproving, while 49% of Hispanic respondents disapprove.
The poll, which surveyed 625 likely voters and a separate sample of 400 Hispanic voters, identified inflation and the cost of living as the top issue for voters, followed by the direction of the state or country and immigration enforcement. Property taxes ranked third among Hispanic respondents.
"In legislative races in Florida, we have seen huge swings," said Rep. Suzan DelBene, chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, referencing recent Democratic gains among Hispanic voters.
A proposed constitutional amendment to raise the property-tax exemption to $250,000 also enjoys majority support, with 55% of all voters in favor, according to the poll.
