Apple rolls out iOS 27.2 beta 3 with design tweaks and new feature hints
Apple released the iOS 27.2 beta 3 build for developers, introducing a refreshed Apple Music logo, design updates for Books, and code hints at upcoming Messages controls and Dynamic Island smart-home integration.
Apple made iOS 27.2 beta 3 (build 24B5099f) available to developers on Monday, two weeks after the second beta and ahead of a public beta scheduled for Tuesday. The update precedes the final public release expected before the end of the month.
The beta includes a new Apple Music logo that features a bolder typeface and a lowercase “m,” which is already appearing in the sign-up flow. It also contains code suggesting a forthcoming Messages setting that would let users disable suggested actions—such as “Add to Calendar”—for individual apps like Calendar, Reminders, Notes and Maps, though the feature is not yet active.
Apple Books receives a visual refresh with a Liquid Glass style and a new progress bar for tracking reading. macOS 27.2 beta 3, released alongside the iOS update, adds gesture-recognition tools and a long-press animation for the Dock, hinting at possible touch-screen MacBook Pro models.
Additional code hints indicate that nearby smart-home accessories could display controls in the Dynamic Island, and the battery icon receives a minor redesign across the system. New splash screens appear for the Fitness and TV apps.
"We’re continually refining the experience across our platforms," a company spokesperson said.
The beta remains under testing, and some features may be altered before the final iOS 27.2 launch.
