Teen son of reality TV star pleads not guilty, seeks transfer to juvenile court
Fifteen-year-old Kroy J. Biermann Jr. entered a not-guilty plea to seven felony sexual-assault charges and his lawyer asked a Fulton County judge to move the case to juvenile court.
Fifteen-year-old Kroy J. Biermann Jr., the son of former reality-TV personality Kim Zolciak and former NFL player Kroy Biermann, pleaded not guilty to seven felony counts that include aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation and false imprisonment. His attorney, Jason Sheffield, filed a request in Fulton County Superior Court to have the case transferred to Fulton County Juvenile Court and waived a formal arraignment scheduled for the following Wednesday.
Sheffield also asked the judge to seal documents contained in three envelopes, though the contents were not disclosed. The charges stem from an alleged April incident at a Life Time fitness center in Alpharetta, Georgia, where a female classmate accused Biermann of assaulting her in a co-ed sauna and preventing her from leaving. Medical testing later found no male DNA in the victim’s mouth or vagina.
Biermann was arrested on August 17, held for more than a month at Atlanta’s Metro Regional Youth Detention Center, and released on a $200,000 bond. Prosecutors have also referenced alleged cellphone footage involving an underage family member, which Sheffield characterized as “inappropriate behavior between two middle schoolers” that did not result in any adjudication for statutory rape or related offenses.
The court has not yet ruled on the request to move the case to juvenile court. The family continues to assert Biermann’s innocence as the legal process proceeds.
