President Donald Trump lashed out on Truth Social, accusing Fox News of favoring Democratic and independent Senate candidates, particularly Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan and Dan Osborn in Nebraska, over Republican incumbents.
President Donald Trump once again took to his Truth Social platform to air grievances, this time targeting Fox News for what he perceives as excessive coverage of Democratic and independent Senate candidates ahead of the 2024 midterm elections. Trump singled out Abdul El-Sayed, a progressive Democratic nominee in Michigan known for his advocacy on healthcare and social justice, and Dan Osborn, an independent candidate challenging entrenched Republican Senator Pete Ricketts in Nebraska. Trump complained that Fox News was giving these candidates a fair platform, while neglecting to prop up Republican officeholders.
"FoxNews spends more time covering the Jihadist and Dumocrat candidates than they do the good old fashioned Republicans, the people that have saved America, and are making it great again," Trump wrote, using inflammatory and derogatory language to describe his political opponents.
Trump also expressed outrage that Fox News had not amplified his recent rally appearances, accusing the network of promoting Democrats and ignoring the so-called “MAGA” base.
Political commentators highlighted the hypocrisy of Trump’s demands for overtly partisan coverage from a network he previously excluded from the White House, recalling his history of banning media outlets he considered insufficiently loyal.
Recent polling reflects the shifting political landscape: a Mitchell Research poll shows El-Sayed leading Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan by four points, while a SurveyUSA poll finds Osborn ahead of incumbent Ricketts in Nebraska. Both races are highly competitive as Democrats and independents seek to break the Republican stranglehold on the Senate.
Fox News has not responded to requests for comment, remaining silent in the face of Trump’s baseless accusations.
