Authorities have arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University. Robinson was taken into custody in St. George, Utah, after his father recognized him from photographs distributed by law enforcement and urged him to surrender. The father contacted a youth pastor, who is also a U.S. Marshals task force officer, leading to Robinson's apprehension.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox stated that Robinson had become more politically active in recent years and had discussed Kirk's campus visit with a family member the night before the incident. Evidence linking Robinson to the crime includes messages about retrieving and disposing of a bolt-action rifle, which authorities recovered near the campus. Ammunition found at the scene bore provocative inscriptions, such as "Hey fascist, catch!" and "Bella Ciao," referencing an Italian anti-fascist song.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that law enforcement apprehended Robinson within 33 hours of the shooting. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was on a national college speaking tour titled "American Comeback Tour" at the time of his death. His murder has drawn widespread condemnation across the political spectrum.
