Panthers defeat Lions 32-26 as Bryce Young throws for 329 yards
Carolina quarterback Bryce Young led the Panthers to a 32-26 win over Detroit, completing 29 of 41 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns, while Detroit’s defense allowed 127 points in four games.
Carolina Panthers defeated the Detroit Lions 32-26 at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday. Quarterback Bryce Young completed 29 of 41 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns, while wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan recorded 14 catches for 192 yards and two scores. Running back Chubba Hubbard added 122 rushing yards and two touchdowns for the Panthers.
Detroit quarterback Jared Goff threw for a season-high 412 yards, completing 32 of 52 attempts and connecting with tight end Sam LaPorta for a late fourth-quarter touchdown. The Lions’ final drive stalled on fourth-and-13 when Goff’s pass to Isaac TeSlaa fell short, sealing the loss.
The Panthers scored on six consecutive possessions early in the game and held on despite a late-quarter turnover on downs. Detroit’s defense, which ranks last in the league for points allowed, gave up 127 points in its first four games.
Both teams exchanged scores through the first three quarters, but a 13-play, 72-yard drive by the Panthers in the fourth quarter provided the decisive cushion. The Lions remain tied for last in the NFC North, while the Panthers improve to 2-2.
The Lions will travel to Arizona next week for their final game before a bye, and the Panthers look to build on the victory in their upcoming schedule.
