12-Year-Old Killed in Baltimore Shooting Linked to Parking Dispute

Summary

A 12-year-old girl died after being caught in crossfire between two men fighting over a parking space in a Baltimore park, police said.

A 12-year-old girl was fatally shot in Baltimore over the weekend during an apparent dispute over a parking space in a park where children were playing football. Police said the child was not the target but was hit by bullets exchanged between two men. A woman was also found with gunshot wounds at the scene, and two men were treated for injuries believed to be related to the incident.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said investigators are searching for at least two suspects and that no arrests have been made. > "What we know is there was some type of argument between two cowards. They both opened fire on each other. In the crossfire, a 12-year-old little girl, who was probably down there watching football, was shot and killed."

Worley added that the girl, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at a hospital, while the other three victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward with information.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott also addressed the shooting, stating, "Two grown men got into an argument, and now a 12-year-old is gone. We never should have to say something like that. What happened out here today is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen in my life."
