Elon Musk's Wealth Now Primarily Derived from Private Ventures
Elon Musk's financial portfolio has shifted, with the majority of his wealth now stemming from private companies like SpaceX and xAI, surpassing his holdings in Tesla.
Elon Musk's financial landscape has undergone a significant transformation, with the majority of his wealth now originating from private enterprises such as SpaceX and xAI, surpassing his holdings in Tesla.
Tesla has proposed a new compensation plan for Musk, potentially worth up to $1 trillion, contingent upon the company achieving ambitious milestones, including increasing its market valuation to $8.5 trillion and meeting specific operational targets.
The proposed compensation package comprises 423.7 million performance-based restricted Tesla shares, divided into 12 tranches. Each tranche is linked to milestones, starting with a $2 trillion market capitalization and escalating incrementally. To fully benefit from this package, Musk must also achieve 12 operational goals, such as delivering 20 million vehicles annually, securing 10 million paid Full Self-Driving subscriptions, producing 1 million Optimus AI robots, and deploying 1 million commercial robotaxis.
This proposal follows a Delaware court's invalidation of Musk's previous $56 billion compensation plan, deemed excessive and unfair to shareholders. In response, Tesla reincorporated in Texas, where new corporate laws offer greater protection against shareholder lawsuits, facilitating the implementation of Musk's expanded compensation package.
As of December 2024, Musk's net worth was estimated at $421.2 billion, with significant contributions from the soaring valuations of Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI.
Shareholders are set to vote on the proposed compensation plan at Tesla's annual meeting on November 6.
