A'ja Wilson faces no further discipline after fan confrontation in Aces-Fever game

Summary

WNBA star A'ja Wilson will not be penalized beyond a technical foul for an on-court incident with a fan, keeping her eligible for Game 3 of the first-round series.

Las Vegas Aces forward A'ja Wilson will not receive additional sanctions after an altercation with a spectator during Game 2 against the Indiana Fever, a source told ESPN. The decision leaves Wilson available for Thursday's decisive Game 3 of the opening-round matchup.

With just over four minutes left in the fourth quarter, Indiana forward Sophie Cunningham was called for a foul on Wilson. As Cunningham protested, a fan seated behind the baseline stood up and pointed at Wilson. Wilson stepped toward the fan and warned, "You don't point at me, you don't point at me." Teammates Cheyenne Parker-Tyus, Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young and bench player Kierstan Bell intervened to pull Wilson away. The league issued Wilson a technical foul but did not eject her, and officials later ruled that no further penalties were warranted.

Arena security escorted the fan out but later allowed him to return to his seat, stating that his behavior did not violate the Fan Code of Conduct. In the post-game press conference, Wilson described the fan's actions as "unacceptable" and expressed surprise that he was permitted to sit again. She apologized to teammates for the technical foul and said she would not tolerate similar conduct in the future.

A WNBA spokesperson confirmed the incident would be reviewed. Game 3 will determine which team advances to face the winner of the Dallas Wings-Golden State Valkyries series.
