Actor Chad Lowe Reflects on Fatherhood After Daughter Fiona's Death

Summary

Chad Lowe recalled his experiences as a father of three daughters in past interviews and social media posts, and his family announced the death of his middle child, Fiona, in September 2026.

Actor Chad Lowe, who has spoken publicly about raising three daughters, said in a December 2025 podcast that being a "girl dad" was a privilege that gave him a new perspective on gender issues. He described his role as an opportunity to view the world through his daughters' eyes.

In February, after a wildfire forced his family to evacuate, Lowe posted on Instagram that his family had returned to their damaged home and praised his wife and daughters for their resilience. He wrote that supporting them was his primary purpose and that fatherhood was his greatest joy.

Lowe also marked his daughter Fiona's transition to her teenage years on Instagram in November, and earlier, during a 2024 ski trip, he expressed gratitude for the experience, using the hashtag "girl dad."

The family announced Fiona's death in September 2026, a few weeks before her 14th birthday. A statement said she was a loving, creative young girl who enjoyed dancing and was deeply cherished by her sisters and parents. The family requested privacy and prayers, and included resources for mental-health support.

Chad Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, has been married to Kim Painter since 2010. Their children are Mabel (born 2009), Fiona (born 2012, deceased), and Nixie (born 2016).
