Man killed in Dublin parking lot shooting, suspects identified as in-laws
A 40-year-old Dublin man was shot dead in a parking lot, and police have arrested his 77-year-old in-law couple on murder charges.
Police in Dublin, California, are investigating the fatal shooting of 40-year-old resident Jonathan McKinsey, who was found with gunshot wounds in a parking lot near the local sports complex on Saturday afternoon. A police sergeant who was driving nearby stopped after seeing McKinsey on the ground, and 911 calls were logged simultaneously. Officers pronounced McKinsey dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported the incident occurred in a busy area. Kevin Stein, a Dublin resident, told KTVU-TV, "This place is busy on a Saturday, it’s incredible that they’d just do that right in front of everybody."
Authorities say the alleged shooters are McKinsey’s in-laws, Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77, who were arrested nearby on suspicion of murder and booked into Santa Rita Jail. Police indicated no additional suspects are being sought and there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The Dublin Sports Grounds, temporarily closed for the investigation, has since reopened.
The investigation into the motive and circumstances of the shooting remains ongoing.
