International Team Leads Presidents Cup 7-3 After Friday Sweep
The International squad holds a 7-3 advantage over the United States heading into Saturday's matches at Medinah Country Club.
The International team swept Friday's foursomes sessions at the Presidents Cup, extending its lead to 7-3 over the United States at the halfway point of the competition in Chicago. The margin matches the largest lead the International side has held after two sessions, a record previously set in 1998 when they won the Cup.
Saturday will feature four-ball matches in the morning followed by foursomes in the afternoon, with the final day reserved for 24 singles matches. The first team to reach 15.5 points wins the Cup, though the International team needs only 8.5 more points to clinch the title.
Current matchups in the four-ball session include: - Justin Thomas and Jackson Koivun versus Min Woo Lee and Sungjae Im, with the U.S. pair leading 2 up through 12 holes. - Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark versus Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim, tied after 11 holes. - Chris Gotterup and Cameron Young versus Nick Taylor and Corey Conners, with the U.S. pair 2 up through 10 holes. - Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns versus Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Hisatsune, with the Americans 1 up through 9 holes.
The International squad will look to maintain its advantage as the competition progresses toward the decisive singles matches on Sunday.
