Seahawks eye Sam Darnold's return while safety Julian Love's status remains uncertain
Quarterback Sam Darnold is expected to start Sunday’s game after missing one contest, but safety Julian Love is listed as doubtful due to a calf injury.
Seattle’s starting quarterback Sam Darnold participated fully in Thursday’s practice and was available for media questions, indicating he is on track to start against Washington. Darnold, who suffered a glute strain five plays into the season opener against New England, said he feels good and is taking a day-by-day approach while hoping to play on Sunday.
Backup quarterback Drew Lock led Seattle to a 31-7 victory over Arizona, throwing three touchdowns with no turnovers, but the team appears prepared to reinstate Darnold as the starter.
Safety Julian Love, who practiced on Wednesday, was listed as a day-not-practicing (DNP) on Thursday because of a calf injury, joining other players such as Brandon Pili and Jadarian Price as question marks for the upcoming game. Ty Okada remains out with a hamstring issue, while backups Rodney Thomas II, A.J. Finley, Maxen Hook and D’Anthony Bell are listed as available.
