Anaheim Ducks to Face San Jose Sharks in Preseason Matchup

Summary

The Ducks will play the Sharks at 7 p.m. PT, streaming online, after a recent loss to Los Angeles, with several prospects expected to see significant ice time.

The Anaheim Ducks will travel north to play the San Jose Sharks in a preseason game scheduled for 7 p.m. PT, with the contest available via live stream on the team’s website and mobile app. The Ducks entered the matchup with a 1-0-0 record against the Sharks this preseason and are coming off a 2-1 defeat to the Los Angeles Kings in the second game of a back-to-back series.

Coach Joel Quenneville noted that the team generated several quality scoring chances despite not converting them, emphasizing the developmental nature of preseason play.

"There wasn't a lot of high-quality scoring chances, but we had some good looks. We had some good opportunities. Should have been a little more productive but at the same time, it was a preseason game, and we worked hard. It was there, and it just didn't happen," Quenneville said.

Forward Ethan Procyzsyn scored the Ducks’ lone goal, highlighting the opportunity for younger players to showcase their abilities. Quenneville praised Procyzsyn’s development and skill set.

"The ‘Pro kid’, it’s the first time I've seen him at that level in play. He’s had a good camp. We noticed him last year and I think he’s progressed well. He’s got some pace, he’s good in the draws and he’s smart and effective," the coach added.

2026 second-round pick Jayden Kurtz made his preseason debut, focusing on simple, decisive play and recording three blocked shots. Quenneville expressed confidence in Kurtz’s poise and understanding of the game.

"He’s gonna be a good player. I liked everything I saw about him all camp, and tonight he looked like he wasn't intimidated by the level of play and the pace of the game. He's got a very good understanding of the game, and he's just got some real nice poise," Quenneville said.

The anticipated lineup features veterans such as Nick Jensen, Jeff Malott, Sam Colangelo, Tyson Hinds and goaltenders Ville Husso and Laurent Brossoit, alongside prospects including 2025 first-round pick Roger McQueen and 2026 first-rounder Nikita Klepov.
