Apple begins beta of iOS 27.2 with redesigned Health app and new features

Summary

Apple has started beta testing iOS 27.2, adding a revamped Health app, TV app profiles, expanded Siri AI language support and other updates, with a public release expected in October.

Apple announced that beta testing for iOS 27.2 is underway, introducing several updates ahead of an anticipated October release. The new version of the Health app, previewed at the iPhone 18 Pro event, now appears in beta and is organized into three tabs—Insights, Longevity and Browse. It incorporates dynamic design elements and Apple Intelligence, with the Longevity tab offering a "Health age" metric derived from Apple Watch data. While the redesign will not ship with the initial iOS 27.2 rollout, Apple is using the beta to refine it for later in the year.

The iOS 27.2 update also brings profiles to the Apple TV app on iPhone for the first time, a feature previously limited to tvOS. Siri AI, introduced with iOS 27, expands to additional languages, including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Group FaceTime calls gain Dual Capture mode, allowing simultaneous use of front and rear cameras, provided participants are on iPhone 17 or newer and running iOS 27.

Other refinements include renaming the Podcasts "Up Next" queue to "New Episodes," visual tweaks to the Music app icons, an expanded Call Context feature that now shows anniversaries, and minor UI adjustments in the Clock app. Code analysis suggests future additions such as live album countdowns in Apple Music, third-party support for Describe a Shortcut, new CarPlay Ultra themes, and continued development of an anti-snatching feature.

Apple previously confirmed that iOS 27.1 will be exclusive to the upcoming iPhone Duo, with the software paths for that model and other iPhones expected to converge in a later update, possibly iOS 27.2.x or iOS 27.3.
