Apple's iPhone 18 Pro features a reduced Dynamic Island after relocating certain Face ID components beneath the display, which adds a small amount of additional screen space. The redesign enables the island to show more information for a second Live Activity when only two activities are running, such as displaying a countdown timer alongside media playback. Apple also announced that the device can now handle three simultaneous Live Activities, up from two on earlier models. The changes are expected to give developers new opportunities to enhance app functionality on the iPhone 18 Pro.
"Apple’s announcement earlier this month highlighted that three Live Activities can now run at a time, up from the previous limit of two," the company said.
Industry observers note that the hardware modification is the first physical alteration to the Dynamic Island since its introduction on the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022.
