U.S. Administration Ready to Impose Sanctions on International Criminal Court

सारांश

U.S. officials are set to announce sanctions targeting the International Criminal Court, intensifying the Trump administration's efforts to pressure the tribunal over its investigations and arrest warrants.

The Trump administration is preparing to announce sanctions that would apply to the International Criminal Court (ICC) as a whole, according to two officials familiar with the plan. The move would expand previous U.S. actions that have targeted individual ICC judges and prosecutors.

Washington has long expressed opposition to the court’s investigations, including its arrest warrants for Israeli leaders and a probe into U.S. military conduct in Afghanistan. In July, Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for a campaign to isolate the ICC and urged other nations to consider withdrawing from the tribunal.

The State Department did not respond to a request for comment on the pending sanctions.
