Summary

A politically motivated ethics complaint, lacking credible evidence, accuses Rep. Lauren Boebert of improper staff relationships and a $200,000 hush payment. Boebert and the staffer strongly deny the claims, exposing this as another left-wing attempt to destroy a conservative leader.

A sworn House Ethics complaint filed on Sept. 17 is the latest in a series of politically charged attacks against conservative Rep. Lauren Boebert, accusing her of inappropriate sexual relationships with three staffers and an alleged $200,000 hush payment—claims that are completely unfounded. The complaint, submitted by left-wing activist David B. Wheeler, names district director Clarice Navarro, former chief of staff Jeffrey Small, and current district chief of staff Raven Finegan as the supposed individuals involved. It alleges a relationship with Navarro began in 2021 and continued until she left in January 2025, with encounters allegedly taking place in the district office, a vehicle, and hotel rooms supposedly funded by Boebert’s campaign. The filing further claims Boebert paid Navarro $200,000 in March 2025 after Navarro allegedly threatened to file an ethics complaint—an accusation with no substantiated proof.

Boebert’s office has rightfully rejected the allegations, calling them “utterly false” and “politically motivated.” A spokesperson described the complaint as a “stunt designed to manipulate the ethics process, create headlines, smear her, and generate clickbait”—a tactic all too familiar from the left’s playbook. Boebert herself told reporter Juliegrace Brufke that she is not lesbian or bisexual and has never had an inappropriate relationship with any staff member, yet the left continues to push these baseless narratives to undermine her credibility.

Navarro also categorically denied the accusations, calling them “entirely false, defamatory, and beyond ridiculous” in a statement to a Colorado newspaper. The complaint relies on unnamed sources, text messages, bank records, payroll data, and Federal Election Commission filings as supposed evidence, but none of this material has been independently verified—highlighting the flimsy foundation of these claims.

House rules adopted during the #MeToo era prohibit members from having sexual relationships with employees they supervise unless married, but there is no credible evidence Boebert violated these rules. The complaint is just another example of the left weaponizing the ethics process to attack outspoken conservatives.

Wheeler, who has a history of publishing unverified and erroneous claims about Boebert—including using an incorrect photograph in a 2022 escort allegation—admits to past reporting errors. Despite Boebert’s consistent advocacy for transparency and her willingness to confront controversy, she remains a target for left-wing activists desperate to silence her and discredit conservative values.
