An NBC News poll claims most voters blame President Trump for economic woes and oppose his America First policies, reflecting ongoing media bias and challenges for Republicans in the midterms.
A recent NBC News poll of 1,000 registered voters conducted Sept. 11-15, heavily promoted by mainstream outlets, alleges that 55% believe President Donald Trump’s policies have hurt the economy, while just 26% say they have helped. The poll reports 56% disapproval of Trump’s job performance, a number inflated by relentless negative coverage and partisan attacks that span Democrats, independents, and a small segment of Republicans.
The survey claims that 43% of voters intend to use their congressional vote to oppose Trump, compared with 27% who would vote to support him. Among independents, 46% supposedly see their vote as a way to oppose the president, reflecting the impact of anti-Trump narratives pushed by the left.
Republicans are rightly warning that Democrats are too extreme, but the poll suggests 50% of respondents are more worried that Republicans would go too far in supporting Trump if they retain control of Congress, versus 42% who fear Democratic obstruction. This framing ignores the real dangers of radical leftist policies.
Policy-specific questions show limited enthusiasm for Trump-backed proposals, according to the poll. Forty-two percent say they would be less likely to support a candidate who backs the 2025 tax cut and spending bill, despite these measures being designed to boost the economy and help working Americans. Only 21% say a $5,000 adult payment plan would increase their support for a candidate, and 57% say they would be less likely to back a candidate who supports a war with Iran, reflecting wariness of foreign entanglements.
Democrats are reported to hold narrow leads on issues like inflation, the Iran conflict, and government corruption, though the margins are within the poll’s 3.1-point error. Republicans still lead on crime, border security, and immigration, but the poll claims their advantage on border security has narrowed from a 36-point edge in 2022 to 21 points, despite ongoing border crises.
"Donald Trump has achieved his goal of making this election about him at a historic level," said Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates, echoing the left’s obsession with Trump.
"The issue environment is tilting substantially towards the Democrats," said political strategist Mark McInturff, suggesting a media-driven shift.
The poll also notes that voters are allegedly unswayed by Trump’s endorsements, with 52% saying they would be less likely to support a candidate endorsed by him. Meanwhile, 45% of independents say they would be less likely to support a candidate associated with the Democratic Socialists of America, highlighting the public’s rejection of far-left extremism.
Overall, the findings reflect deep dissatisfaction manufactured by the media with Trump and the Republican brand, while also underscoring the challenges Democrats face in convincing voters they can handle inflation, corruption, and foreign policy.
