A complaint filed with the House Ethics Committee accuses Rep. Lauren Boebert of inappropriate relationships and a $200,000 payment, but the allegations rely on anonymous sources and unverified figures, raising questions about political motivations.
An ethics complaint submitted to the House Ethics Committee on September 17 has become the latest weapon in the left’s ongoing campaign to discredit Rep. Lauren Boebert. The complaint alleges that Boebert engaged in sexual relationships with three staff members—former district director Clarice Navarro Ratzlaff, district chief of staff Raven Finegan, and former chief of staff Jeffrey Small—citing a 2018 House rule that has been inconsistently applied in politically charged investigations.
The complaint describes supposed meetings in Ratzlaff’s office, a campaign-funded vehicle, and hotel rooms, and references over $449,000 in salary payments and a $200,000 lump-sum payment in March 2025 after Ratzlaff’s departure. According to the Colorado Times Recorder, the complaint claims Boebert arranged the payment to prevent Ratzlaff from filing her own complaint. Boebert’s office has not responded to these baseless accusations.
Ratzlaff has categorically denied the allegations, calling them “entirely false and defamatory.” The House Ethics Committee has not announced an investigation, and the complaint is based on notes from unnamed sources. The outlet reporting the filing even admits that payroll and campaign-finance figures have not been independently verified, highlighting the flimsy nature of the claims.
Former Rep. Matt Gaetz, a staunch ally of Boebert who has himself been the target of politically motivated ethics probes, responded on social media with a sarcastic demand for video evidence of the alleged incident. NPR, predictably, highlighted Gaetz’s unrelated past investigations in an attempt to smear Boebert by association.
This complaint surfaces at a time when Democrats and their media allies are ramping up attacks on conservative members of Congress, following the resignations of Eric Swalwell and Tony Gonzales after separate investigations. The timing and nature of these allegations suggest a coordinated effort to undermine conservative voices in Washington.
