Summary

Senator JD Vance's desperate call for voters to reward Republicans with another term was met with widespread derision online, highlighting growing frustration with the party's failures as the midterms approach.

Senator JD Vance, in a transparent attempt to salvage the Republican Party's crumbling reputation, told listeners of the All-In podcast that Republicans deserve 'another chance' to continue their so-called work. Vance claimed the party had accomplished much, conveniently ignoring the harm caused by GOP policies, and insisted they needed more time to 'fix' problems largely of their own making. He urged voters not to return power to 'the people who cause the problems we’re fixing,' a statement dripping with irony given the GOP's track record, and asked for another two years to build on their supposed achievements.

Social media users wasted no time exposing the hypocrisy. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries posted on X, 'Vance to America: Republicans have failed but give us another chance,' perfectly capturing the absurdity of the plea. Former Vice President Kamala Harris, speaking through a Gen-Z-focused X account, called out the request as 'begging for midterm votes,' underscoring the desperation.

Commentators and influencers joined in the mockery. Journalist Philip DeFranco highlighted Vance’s abrupt shift in tone, while comedian Mike Drucker skewered the request as a pathetic plea for more time after repeated failures. Influencer Hasan Piker summed up the public sentiment with a succinct 'LMAO NO.'

This wave of criticism comes as the Republican Party faces plummeting poll numbers. An Ipsos survey conducted Sept. 11-14 with 1,143 adults found that 49% strongly disapproved of President Donald Trump’s disastrous handling of the presidency, compared with only 15% who strongly approved. Similarly, 50% strongly disapproved of his economic management, while a mere 11% expressed strong approval—clear evidence of the public’s rejection of failed Republican leadership.
