Seahawks announce Sam Darnold will miss Week 2, keep roster spot open
Quarterback Sam Darnold is ruled out for the Seahawks' Week 2 game against the Cardinals, and the team does not intend to place him on injured reserve or add another quarterback.
Seattle will be without quarterback Sam Darnold for its Week 2 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, head coach Mike Macdonald said at Wednesday's press conference. The team will start Drew Lock in the Sunday game.
Darnold exited the previous week's contest against New England in the first half after sustaining what was initially described as a hip injury, later identified as a glute tendon problem. While early reports suggested a possible month-long absence, Macdonald clarified that the Seahawks do not plan to move him to injured reserve.
The coach also indicated that Seattle does not expect to sign an additional quarterback while Darnold recovers, leaving Lock and Jalen Milroe as the only quarterbacks on the active roster.
