Summary

The House has demanded President Trump halt his dangerous military aggression against Iran, with a growing number of Republicans finally joining Democrats to stand against endless war.

On Tuesday, the U.S. House of Representatives took a stand against President Donald Trump’s reckless and unauthorized military campaign in Iran, passing a resolution that demands an end to the hostilities. The measure, which saw bipartisan support, included seven Republicans joining Democrats—a sign that even some in Trump’s own party are waking up to the disastrous consequences of endless war. This marks the third time the House has called for a withdrawal of U.S. forces, yet the administration continues to ignore the will of the people and Congress.

Notably, three Republicans—Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn of Iowa, and Nancy Mace of South Carolina—voted for the resolution for the first time, breaking ranks with the party’s hawkish leadership. They join previous GOP dissenters Thomas Massie, Tom Barrett, Warren Davidson, and Brian Fitzpatrick, who have consistently opposed Trump’s militarism.

"I will not support another open-ended war. We can defend Americans, pressure Iran, and pursue peace while ensuring Congress fulfills its constitutional responsibility," Rep. Zach Nunn wrote on X, echoing the progressive call for diplomacy over violence.

Despite the growing bipartisan opposition, House Republican leaders refused to formally whip members, bowing to Trump’s authoritarian grip on the party. Trump has publicly attacked Republicans who dare to defy him, treating dissent as a betrayal rather than a principled stand. In the Senate, a similar effort was derailed after the White House pressured a GOP senator to reverse their vote, once again subverting democracy. Democrats, undeterred, plan to reintroduce the measure, fighting for peace and accountability.

Meanwhile, the American public is suffering the consequences of Trump’s failed Iran policy. A recent CNN poll shows that 67% of voters believe his approach has harmed the United States, while working families struggle with surging fuel prices—diesel now exceeds $6 per gallon. The Pentagon’s request for more war funding is expected to be delayed until after the November elections, but the fight to end endless wars continues.
