HBO adds Rafe Spall, Molly Hewitt-Richards and Jasper Ambrose to Harry Potter series

Summary

Rafe Spall, Molly Hewitt-Richards and Jasper Ambrose have been cast in new roles for season two of HBO's Harry Potter series, joining an expanding ensemble as filming continues in the UK.

HBO's adaptation of the Harry Potter saga has announced three new cast members for its second season. Rafe Spall will portray Arthur Weasley, a Ministry of Magic official and father of seven, a role previously played by Mark Williams in the film series. Molly Hewitt-Richards has been cast as the ghost Moaning Myrtle, originally depicted by Shirley Henderson, while Jasper Ambrose will take on the part of Colin Creevey, the eager student first seen in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

The actors join a growing lineup that includes Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley, Lenny Rush as Dobby and Billy Barratt as Tom Riddle. Season-two filming is under way at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom.

"Spall’s credits include Sky’s hit series Under Salt Marsh and Apple TV comedy Trying," the announcement noted, adding that he follows his father Timothy Spall, who appeared as Peter Pettigrew in the original films.

"Hewitt-Richards has appeared in BritBox’s Code of Silence and the BBC drama Casualty," the release said, indicating her representation by Curtis Brown Group.

"Ambrose, known for The Sheep Detectives, is represented by Sylvia Young Agency," the statement added.

The series continues to feature returning actors such as Dominic McLaughlin (Harry Potter), Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger), Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley), John Lithgow (Albus Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (Minerva McGonagall), Paapa Essiedu (Severus Snape) and Nick Frost (Rubeus Hagrid).
