Pulse now shows a daily direction forecast for markets
Pulse already shows what is moving in finance. Now it also shows where the day may be heading, and how reliable that guess has been.
What you see
For each covered instrument, Pulse shows three things:
- Next. The estimated chance that the instrument closes higher in the coming session.
- Last. Whether the previous forecast turned out right or wrong, marked with a check or a cross.
- Accuracy. The share of past forecasts that were right, together with how many forecasts that figure is based on.
Showing the record next to the forecast is the point. A forecast without a track record is just a number. With one, you can judge how much weight to give it, and a small sample is clearly labeled as small.
Coverage
Forecasts are available for the broad US market, Japan's Nikkei, gold and bitcoin. Where there is no daily forecast for an instrument, Pulse shows a dash instead of inventing one.
A note on how to use it
This is a signal to read, not advice. It is a probability, and probabilities miss. We put the hits and misses on the screen so you can see that for yourself.
Where to find it
Open Pulse and go to the finance section on the web or in the apps. The forecast sits next to each covered instrument.
